Brian Sumner is a professional skateboarder, transplanted from Liverpool, England to Huntington Beach, California. He began skating at the age of 13 and by 15 had made it out to Huntington Beach CA where his career took off and he spent the next part of his life touring the world demoing and touring the world, riding for the like of Tony Hawks Birdhouse, Adio, Volcom, Analog, Independent and many more.

A street skater at heart, birthed out of the likes of his hometown friend Geoff Rowley as well as room mates Andrew Reynolds, Jim Greco and Ali Boulala Brian soon established himself as a main stay in the skate culture.

In 1999 Brian was married and soon he and his wife were expecting their first child Dakota. Over the course of the next few years Brian’s life faced a lot of challenges and soon he was divorced and over living. Through a year of separation Brian got into trouble requiring anger management, and end up doing community service at a Christian thrift store. While being over living, figuring he had experienced his dreams and wasn’t happy with where things were, he decided to challenge God and search for truth. After many months of study, speaking with people of different faiths, and pursuing truth as best he could, he had a life changing experience and became a Christian in 2004. “I was going to God to fix my life but He was dealing with me about my sin, about the world I was born into and about why He sent His Son Jesus to die for my sins and offer His forgiveness. I told The Lord I needed to be forgiven, and as I was repenting I said I would give my life to Jesus, get baptized, use my skateboarding for Him and even re-marry my ex-wife.”

Brian had an encounter that night in prayer and his life has never been the same. Today he is re-married to Tracy, and they now have two additional children together. Soon after becoming a Christian Brian began to shareThe Gospel rather than just continue with a career in skating where much of his time revolved around long tours and the focus was on getting tricks and being in the magazines and videos.

He began serving at The Sanctuary church, as a Deacon, attended different Bible schools and began sharing Jesus through skating, at events, outreaches, in churches and many other places.

Today Brian is a City Pastor at The Rock Harbor in Huntington Beach, as well as constantly traveling to preach, teach, do outreaches and missions as God wills. Brian’s focus on skating turned heavily towards his faith, and not only did what he did with his time change but also many of his sponsors and the purposes for even having them.

Brian has also been part of many amazing projects and witnessing tools such as the “I Am Second” video testimony series, Billy Grahams “My Hope”, the “Hardflip” movie, and “Foolishness” the Skatebible movie which Brian co-produced, wrote, and directed that went on to win “best Evangelistic film of 2013″.

Brian and his wife also are deeply involved in Marriage Ministry, and counseling couples through hard times. Brian’s no longer makes a living from the skate industry and his ministry is funded by the support of people who come alongside him and his family monthly. He also serves on boards, along side church plants around the world.
