We had a fundraiser art show this past friday and opened up the doors to the public. The main Sanctuary became a gallery, and we saw that it was good.

The Harmster played an amazing set. Josh is an awesome skater but after hearing his music these past few months I can safely say he was given another gift. Fired up and seeking his call.

Hope everyone is good. Just catching up. I was over over in the UK a few weeks ago because my Dad suffered a minor stoke. It turned out to be a true blessing because not only did I finally make my way back over there for the first time years, but also the doctors found clogged arteries which he needed drained and could have been deadly if not treated. It shook my family up quite good because before this they, like most had the idea when your time is up your time is up. And though this is true, without Jesus and His Free Gift that is not going to be a good thing. Tomorrow is not promised, today is the day of salvation. Through that incident my family stared considering the bigger picture and now five or so weeks away they have been attending an awesome church 5 minute from our home in Liverpool. Thanks for those prayers you sent up with me.

Also with the recent changes in the whole economy and the slight recession people say we may be entering into a lot has been changing in skating. I have heard everything from people losing jobs at well known companies that are cutting back, to board sales just hitting a new low. Skating is big but the market is flooded and many families are struggling. I had been riding for Adio all these years but just recently their parent brand was bought and so a lot of things are happening over there. Some awesome and loyal people but seeing them go through such and being given the heads up a few months ago I have been looking elsewhere to what feels right.
A lot of brands are out there but my life is so different than it used to be. What I believe, my goals and such mean I am not just going to be part of this or that brand. After talking with people and weighing in what will work best I was really surprised from the feeling and direction I got from meeting with Nice Skate Shoes. On a Birdhouse trip Svitak had mentioned how stoked he was on them and it was refreshing to see someone actually enjoying a brand again. After getting sent shoes from other brands and nothing feeling sure I gave Svitak a call. I went into Nice, met with the guys, saw what they were about, felt the support and saw the potential. The first day I skated in the shoes I was impressed. As of now I am working on a pro model for early next year, making sure my groin is good and eager to go out, skate and represent. Trying to hook up the photographers these next few weeks to get things moving.

As a father of two, husband, skateboarder, but more importantly a Christian I am sure and excited of what is going on.

Fender guitars also started hooking me up so I get sent guitars to jam on.

Next coming months I am hoping a skate video project to form so I can have something to film for. Will be going to AZ to share, Hawaii, over to the UK again, filming a reality show and hopefully putting a serious movie project together.

Its been years since I have been home to Liverpool and recently after Dad had a minor stroke “which actually was a Blessing in disguise”, and my American Citizenship finally coming through, I made it home awaiting what may be. I hadn’t been back in around 8 - 9 years so I was in for a shock!
My groin is torn and I haven’t been able to skate properly in a month. This trip was the first personal vacation in years. Skate spots had gone, the increase of Police interest in skating spots has put a stop to skating in much of the City Center and many of the gang I grew up with had moved on and away. Liverpool as a city has developed due to the Capital of Culture award which it was chosen to be for 2008. But seeing something as great as this, I also saw the open door of influence into the relevant. Increase in violence and lewdness was all around. Almost every night the regular shows televised documented teen violence in the surrounding areas. Many daily shows chased the same theme of a Jerry Springer where a guy with a loud mouth stating “how it is” would yell at teens and family members for the downfalls. A female hosted show of four well know stars spews out thing such as “get out to the club” and “live your life fast” and then goes onto one host getting emotional about why 15 year old girls are getting pregnant. Is she really unaware what she is saying? Perhaps if she spent less time in the club she could actually say something that brings life. Every night the local Echo newspaper would share stories of teens falling victim to a gang attack or an even bigger drug bust, or the like. I think much of the influence of Hollywood voilence along with the increase in demand for drugs and acpetance as the norm for weapons by youth has opened up the door for a future of chaos. Do you really think about what your children watch? The back pages of the weekly tv guides and casual magazines now bring backcovers that look more like a porno magazine and sharing foul langage. Not to mention there really isn’t much for kids to do. Due to boredom they kick around and often fall into the same kind of life I was fortunate to miss out on. A city that is spending millions on redeveloping the area and seeking to look the part in my eyes is open to missing the point. Growing up here no one ever shared the Gospel with me. England seems starved today of being fed though many Christians came from here years ago: John Wesley, Matthew Henry, Charles Spurgeon, Smith Wigglesworth and Lenoard Ravenhill to name a few. Liverpool known for its great “worldy” accomplishments by means of the import and export business from the River Mersey world wide, the Beatles and possibly two of the most famous soccer teams ever surely must feel the need to keep producing god after god in accordance with staying on the map. But while such things are receiving much focus, what about what truly matters? What about the majority of my generation who are now locked up for falling into the norm? Violence, drugs and undirected desires? What about my sister daughter and the one to come?What about my family, my cousins, my nieces and nephews? They will be raised on these streets and where is the light for them? Get on with it people say but I am seeing the reaping of what was sown into my generation and before, and it looks grim. Sure we are sandblasting the graffiti from the walls and hiring out modern architects to add “flavor” to this city but truly, these things will pass and as we entered the world with nothing we will leave this world with the same. Matthew 16:26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” Sorry Liverpool but stick to the “You’ll never walk alone” I once believed in than the interest of where the next “Lambanana” will be or who was offside. I know my teen years here were spent on skateboarding and in some ways this sheltered me from a tougher and rougher lifestyle, even though I walked in it. But today, for a City I do love and a place that brings awesome memories I will be praying for eyes to be opened here.
Charles Darwin did say we evolved from monkeys so should I be surprised?

If we did evolve it would make sense that we would still resemble them and act this way. Perhaps you do, but what Darwin really stated by his own standard today he himself would have said his theory isn’t right.
Darwin wrote, “that it If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed, which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down.”
